This item has a large and smooth shoe that retains heat.
This is important because think tacking iron head cool in the air as you move them, causing uneven temperature on the surface touching the comic book. It also ahs a rounded headwithout hard angles. This reduces the chances of scratching the book surface. Also use a piece of paper (silicone or parchment) between thetacking iron and the book itself.
There are two model variations
The basic model only heats to about 135-160 F, which is ideal for removing spine tics without damaging the book cover.
The “variable tacking iron ” presents an on/off switch, indicator light, and variable temperature!
Plerase note that production variability in these items varies the temperature are different level seetings. On average, 135F to -160F is appropriate for most silver and bronze age books while 120–140F is appropropriate for modern books.
