Description
Reemay-Style Polyester Sheets for Comic Book Wet Work
The Wet-Work Sidekick Your Comics Deserve
When a comic book page or cover gets wet, ordinary paper products can quickly become the villain of the story. They may stick, tear, shed fibers, or become part of the comic permanently—and not in a fun “first appearance” kind of way.
Our 11” × 17” spunbonded nonwoven polyester sheets are specially sized for comic book wet-work procedures. The porous polyester material allows water, humidity, and moisture vapor to pass through, while helping prevent damp comic-book paper from sticking to the work surface.
These sheets can be used as a support or separation layer during:
- Wet cleaning
- Humidification
- Deacidification treatments
- Drying between absorbent materials
- Handling and transferring damp covers or pages
- Other controlled aqueous conservation procedures
Why Comic Conservators Love It
Nonstick surface
Wet comic-book paper releases much more easily from polyester than from ordinary paper towels, blotters, or untreated paper.
Water and humidity permeable
Moisture can travel through the sheet, making it useful between a comic and blotting or absorbent materials.
Strong when wet
Unlike ordinary paper, the polyester material remains durable and easy to handle during wet procedures.
Reusable
Rinse, dry, and reuse each sheet dozens of times when properly cared for.
Low-lint and non-shedding
The continuous polyester fibers help minimize loose fibers that could transfer onto delicate comic-book surfaces.
Precut to comic-friendly dimensions
Each sheet measures 11” × 17”, so there is no wrestling with giant conservation rolls, scissors, or oddly shaped scraps. We did the cutting—you get to save the comics.
Important: Not for Heat Pressing
These sheets are intended for wet work, humidification, handling, separation, and drying procedures only.
Do not use this material inside a heated comic-book press. Polyester can react to elevated temperatures, and this product is not sold or recommended as heat-press release paper.
For heat pressing, use a material specifically designed and tested for your pressing temperature and process.
Care and Reuse
After use, gently rinse away any residue with clean water and allow the sheet to dry completely. Replace it if it becomes stained, damaged, contaminated, distorted, or difficult to clean.
