Aluminum Pressing Boards made of 6061 aerospace-grade aluminum.
Distributes heat and pressure evenly.
Acts as a heat sink to allow warming of the bottom and top of a book simultaneously.
This is an indispensable tool in comic book pressing.
We offer 4 sizes in Elite thickness .08″
Thicker is better in all properties but also comes with a greater cost (naturally).
Since these boards are relatively soft aluminum (instead of the harder stainless steel).
They will come with and also develop small marks and scratches on the surface over time. Aluminum is superior to stainless steel for pressing as they hold heat better and conduct heat very well.
Rick recommends to always keep a piece of silicone paper, Teflon paper, or a silver age/magazine pressing board between the metal and your book. We sell silicone paper so check that out! The silicone paper protects you from imprinting the scratches into the surface of the book and is advised for all pressing techniques.
Our Sizes:
- 15×15 in Elite .08″
- 12×15 in Elite .08″
- 12×12 in Elite .08″
- 9×12 in Elite .08″ & Standard Thickness
We can offer these boards in stainless steel if there is a desire for them in the community, but the cost to produce these and the cost of materials it about 5-6 times greater for 316 stainless steel. Let us know if you’d like them or if you’d like these in Aluminum that are custom cut! Custom sizes are $5 per cut; special order and will take a couple weeks.
